New Jersey Work Search Requirements

Make sure you are actively seeking work

You must actively search for work as an ongoing condition of eligibility for Unemployment Insurance benefits.

You may be asked to furnish work search contacts with prospective employers at any time during the life of your claim.

This means for each week of benefits you claim, you must make an active search for work and do all that is reasonable to secure reemployment.

Telephone, Internet and In-Person contacts, as well as sending resumes, are all acceptable work search methods.

The Division of Unemployment Insurance may ask you to provide proof of your search for work at any time you are claiming benefits.
